Are you passionate about nature and interested in growing the urban forest? Join the LEAF volunteer community by attending this Volunteer Orientation!

During this interactive virtual session, you will learn how to support your local environment by getting involved with LEAF programs in Toronto, York Region and Durham Region!

We have many volunteer opportunities available to choose from. Whether you’re looking to get your hands dirty at a community tree planting, educate the public at local outreach events, photograph the fun at a tree tour or assist behind the scenes – we have something for everyone!

Please note that volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. However, if you are under 18 years old, please keep an eye on our events page for other opportunities to get involved! We welcome you to sign up for our community planting and stewardship events, and we are happy to recognize your participation by signing a high school volunteer hours form.

Registrants will be provided a Zoom Meeting link to access the orientation.

Rebecca Run for SMA

Come volunteer with the Rebecca Run for SMA!

Have fun, get volunteer hours (if you need them!) and feel good supporting an amazing 5K run and a Kids Fun Run on Saturday July 5, 2025! We are so excited to be back for our 24th year of this Run, and with your help, energy and enthusiasm, we will be stronger than ever!

There is always a special role for you and we look forward to having you join our Rebecca Run Volunteer Team, and make an impact for those affected by SMA across Canada!

There are many ways to get involved –
You can help at a water station, cheer on the runners as a route marshal, help at the start/finish area, or congratulate our finishers with a well-deserved medal at the finish line!

All volunteers will receive:
– An awesome comfy volunteer t-shirt
– Access to our post-run party (including lots of snacks/food!)
– High school students can earn community service hours
– The opportunity to be on our Volunteer Team that is integral for making the run a special day for so many families!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AT BINGO WORLD AND GAMING – RICHMOND HILL

Attention Greater Toronto and York Area Residents!

DMRF Canada is thrilled to share an exciting fundraising opportunity with Bingo World and Gaming Richmond Hill. By volunteering your time, you’ll help DMRF Canada earn a portion of the funds raised during the Bingo events. With four successful sessions already held we’re off to a fantastic start, raising over $12,000!

Volunteering Details:

– Shift Duration: Each volunteer shift will last 2.5 hours.
– Funds Raised: Each event will generate approximately $3,000 for dystonia research and support programs.
– Commitment: We are seeking volunteers who can participate every two months for at least six months. Shifts will be on Fridays 3:00PM-5:45PM.
– Upcoming sessions: January 10th, & March 21st
– Requirements: Volunteers are expected to act in a way that builds public trust and confidence in the Foundation. You do not need to have dystonia to volunteer. Volunteers should be able to walk or stand for their 2.5-hour shift and be capable of tucking in chairs. Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver and undergo a brief screening session with Foundation staff.
– Volunteer Incentives: Volunteers will receive a DMRF Canada t-shirt and those who successfully complete six bingo sessions will receive a $200 gift card as a thank-you for their commitment and hard work!

The ALS Canada Walk to End ALS is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by ALS as well as those who want to help create a world free of ALS. It is more than just a fundraiser, it is a community builder and a place of connection. A place to celebrate, to remember, to support each other and demonstrate just how strong we are as a community.

Scarborough Walk to End ALS

The ALS Canada Walk to End ALS is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by ALS as well as those who want to help create a world free of ALS. It is more than just a fundraiser, it is a community builder and a place of connection. A place to celebrate, to remember, to support each other and demonstrate just how strong we are as a community.

Addressing Emotional Eating

Join our Registered Dietitian, Gigi Loong, for an hour-long online workshop to understand what may be contributing to emotional eating. You will learn new skills and strategies that can help to reduce emotional eating behaviours. This workshop is only for residents living in Markham or Stouffville. Robert Davidson Walk for PF – Markham

Join us for the 3rd annual Robert Davidson Walk for PF, hosted by Heather Davidson. Bring the whole crew for a day of bonding, activities, and midday munchies at the local pub following our walk. Let’s unite, raise awareness, and make a difference for people living with pulmonary fibrosis.

Join us on our walk, or cheer on those who are walking, and enjoy a free lunch afterwards.

Moonlight Movies

Soak up the final nights of summer under the stars as we once again bring you Moonlight Movies. Pack up your chairs and blankets, gather the family to enjoy a new release or an old classic. Join us for some pre-show fun and indulge in some delicious snacks and desserts at 6:30 p.m. All movies will begin at dusk.
