Quick Action Grants Info Session by South Markham Connects
In November 2019, York Region Council approved a place-based approach to developing York Region’s Community Safety & Well-Being (CSWB) Plan and authorized a process to identify geographic areas of focus. United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT) has partnered with York Region and South Markham Connects to support a place-based Community Action Table (CAT) in South-Central Markham to help deliver on the CSWB plan.
As part of this work, UWGT has provided South Markham Connects with a total of $15,000 for residents and agencies, $1,000 for each Resident Initiative and a $10,000 grant for an Agency Initiative in round one to support local neighbourhoods to start new actions in parallel with the work and priorities of the Community Action Table.

PASSION AND DRAMA
Concert streamed live from the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts
Fervorous melodies of the Roma people captivate through violin pyrotechnics in Pablo de Saratsate’s Zigeunerweisen. Lost during the plight of the Russian Revolution, Prokofiev reconstructed by memory his Piano Concerto No. 2, adding ten years of musical maturity and sophisticated compositional skill in this brilliant and evocative work. In 1829, Felix Mendelssohn made his first trip to London for the première of his own Symphony No. 1, which he played five years earlier at his sister’s birthday party.
