Join us for “Act Local, Change Global: The Borgen Project Volunteer Info Session”, a community event introducing attendees to The Borgen Project—a non-profit, non-partisan organization that advocates for the world’s poorest populations. Working at the political level, The Borgen Project mobilizes and educates the public while encouraging Canadian policymakers to strengthen their foreign policy responses to global poverty.
This session will cover:
Volunteer and internship opportunities in journalism, politics, and the non-profit sector
Short-term, impactful ways to get involved in advocacy work
The importance and benefits of Canadian foreign aid—both globally and here at home
This event is ideal for high school students, university students, and young professionals seeking meaningful volunteer experience and the chance to build transferable skills in advocacy, lobbying, writing, and public mobilization.
Inclusion volunteers will be assisting participants with special needs and offer encouragement. They will assume duties such as greeting and welcoming chess participants, collecting additional supplies, supervising participants and any other activities pertaining to the support of program members.
