DESCRIPTION:Learning Together Conference: \nExperiencing the Joy of Kindergarten\nFor Parents and Children Entering Kindergarten in September 2025 \nThe York Region Child and Family Collaborative in collaboration with the EarlyON Child and Family Centres in York Region invites families of children eligible for Kindergarten in September 2025 to join us for this 2-Part Conference! \nPART ONE\nTuesday\, February 18\, 2025\nA virtual evening session for parents and caregivers.\nKeynote presentation by Hanna Beach; an award-winning educator\, author\, emotional health consultant\, and keynote speaker.\nRegister for the February 18 virtual session here! \nPART TWO\nThere are two options to choose from:\nSaturday\, February 22\, 2025\, 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM or\nSaturday\, February 22\, 2025\, 1:00 PM TO 4:00 PM \nA face-to-face session for the parents\, caregivers\, and their kindergarten children.\nTogether\, the family members will engage in fun and interactive workshops and other learning opportunities. Each family will receive a Learning Together Conference Bag with books and resources. Door prizes throughout the conference.\nWORKSHOPS: \nThere will be two breakout sessions; Workshop A and Workshop B. You will be able to select one workshop for each session from the seven workshops being offered. Tickets for these workshops will be available during the registration period on the day of the conference\, and guidance will be provided to assist you in selecting workshops that align with your interests. \nHere are the informstion for each workshop: \n1.Joyful Literacy Through Play:\nCome and explore how the joy of literacy can be fostered in the early years through the use of songs\, stories\, and hands-on playful experiences. In this session\, families\, children and facilitators will play together to explore how children’s literacy skills develop and can be supported both at school and at home. \n2.It’s Lunch Time – Feeding your Kindergartener with Joy: \nGet ready for lunch and snack time routines with York Region Public Health. In this interactive session families will have the opportunity to explore school lunch ideas and prepare a simple recipe with their child. \n3.Understanding Separation Anxiety : \nSeparation anxiety is very common for many children in the Early Years. Why is it that some children have it\, while other’s don’t? and How do parents support a child with separation anxiety? In this workshop we will give a brief introduction into separation anxiety\, as well as discuss some simple strategies to support your child to face their fear of not being with you. \n4.Managing Big Feelings: \nWhy is it that some children experience their emotions intensely\, while other’s don’t? In this workshop we will explore emotions\, where they come from\, and how to talk to your children about them. \n5.All Learning can Happen Outdoors! \nThe outdoors is a valuable learning environment for your child to engage in active learning. Come look at ways to support your child’s learning experiences outdoors. From language\, to math\, to science the outdoors is the ideal place for learning and fun. \n6.Inquiry Based STEAM: Questions + Resources = Learning: \nSTEAM education happens in Ontario Kindergarten Classrooms! Join us as we explore the Inquiry approach to STEAM\, powered by tech resources from Vaughan Public Libraries. Inquiry based learning is the evidence-based approach used to facilitate learning on particular topics of study in the Full Day Kindergarten Classroom. \n7.Playful Mathematics: \nCome and explore math in the early years through games\, songs\, stories and play. Children will be invited to engage in a variety of hands on playful learning experiences. Families will gain a shared understanding of how math develops meaningfully\, and can be intentionally supported\, in play. \nSteps for registration:\n1.
