SUMMARY:Vaughan’s Remembrance Day Service
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, at the 11th hour\, on the 11th day\, of the 11th month\, we honour the brave Canadians who served and continue to serve our country.  \nOn Saturday\, Nov. 11\, starting at 10:45 a.m.\, Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council will host a Remembrance Day service at the Woodbridge Cenotaph (80 Wallace St.) to commemorate the brave Canadians who risked – and\, in many cases\, lost – their lives during times of war\, conflict and peace. \nMembers of the public are invited to attend the ceremony and are welcome to join us at the Woodbridge Memorial Pool and Arena (5020 Hwy 7) for refreshments following the service. Please note\, Wallace Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. that day\, and parking will be available at Woodbridge Memorial Pool and Arena.  \nAs a reflection of the City’s commitment to commemorate the remarkable service and sacrifice of Vaughan residents\, Mayor Del Duca and Members of Council proclaimed the month of November “Remembrance Month” in perpetuity. \nThroughout November\, you are encouraged to share thoughts of remembrance and messages of peace on the City of Vaughan’s poppy wall. You can also view this year’s exhibit\, Families in Arms\, which features families from Vaughan\, both at home and abroad. This City-curated exhibit explores the impact of war on soldiers and those they left behind. The exhibit will be on display at City Hall until Friday\, Nov. 17. It will also be available to view online at vaughan.ca/RemembranceMonth. The online exhibit features additional photos and details not included in the in-person exhibit.  \n

SUMMARY:Strategies for Life: Learning Disabilities Association York Simcoe
DESCRIPTION:Designed for youth and adults diagnosed with\, or suspected to have\, a Learning Disability and / or ADHD\, between the ages of 19 to 29. This is a nine (9) session individual counseling program that focuses on the socio-emotional effects of LDs and ADHD. \nFinal Dates and times to be determined upon registration* \nThis is a 9-week program that offers supportive counseling to someone who has or may be suspected to have a learning disability or ADHD. \nLearning Objectives: \nUnderstanding how your Learning Disability and / or ADHD affects your life. \nUnderstanding barriers and creating coping strategies. \nUnderstanding interpersonal relationships and developing social skills. \nUnderstanding your mental health and developing a toolbox of anxiety\, stress\, and coping strategies that work for you. \nBuilding decision-making and advocacy skills to reach your full potential. \nWe are currently offering you the Strategies for Life program at zero cost to you*!\nFee for 9 weeks sessions:  \n$60 non members\n$56 for members\nSubsidy available \nSubsidy Criteria: \nMust be between the ages 19 to 29 years old.\nMust have a diagnosis of Learning Disability and / or ADHD.\nMust be a residence of York Region or Simcoe \nYou can register online at our website or contact us for more information: \nhttps://ldays.org/strategies-for-life/ \n
